Meals on Wheels operates in virtually every community in America through a network of more than 5,000 independently run local programs. Each program's services and operations are committed to supporting their senior neighbors to live healthier and more nourished lives in their own homes.
Giving back has always been part of the Subaru culture, and so to mark its 50th year in the U.S., Subaru of America donated 50 specially wrapped 2018 Outback vehicles to Meals on Wheels programs across the country for the delivery of meals to seniors in need.
Over the past 10 years of annual Share the Love® Events, and during our month-long Subaru Loves to Help initiative in June 2015, Subaru and our retailers have helped Meals on Wheels America deliver nearly two million meals to homebound seniors.
Subaru and our retailers donated to provide 150 million meals to help those in need, making Subaru the largest corporate automotive donor to Feeding America. It's part of our effort to help make meals available at 199 local food banks across the country.
This year, American Red Cross has served more than 1,539,139 meals and snacks to people affected by disasters, launched more than 15 large-scale relief operations across the country and abroad and opened 365 new shelters.
