  • Peak adventure.

With its daring new style, improved capability, and upgraded safety, the all-new 2026 Outback Wilderness forges a bold new path. Its 9.5 inches of ground clearance and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive are both enhanced with new standard electronically adjustable dampers. Inside the spacious, comfortable interior, there are advanced upgrades like a new standard 12.1-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Standard EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology is augmented with improved sensors and new features that add extra protection to the most adventurous Outback yet.

  • 9.5 Inches of Ground Clearance with New Electronically Controlled Dampers

With an elevated ground clearance of 9.5 inches and standard front underbody protection, you can take the Outback Wilderness off-road into rougher terrain. New for 2026, the Outback Wilderness features electronically controlled dampers for improved traction and ride comfort. The unique front and rear bumpers have been designed for improved approach and departure angles so you can easily clear larger obstacles. The dual-function X-MODE® has also been retuned with settings for snow, dirt, deep snow, and mud that allow additional wheel slip to power through adverse conditions.

  • Adventurous and Versatile

Standard Direct-Injection Turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® Engine and Revised Gearing

The Outback Wilderness off-road SUV features a standard 260-horsepower direct-injection turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine that delivers 277 pound-feet of torque and 3,500 pounds of towing capacity. The drivetrain features revised transmission gearing and an increased final drive ratio for improved low-speed climbing — up to a 40% grade.

  • The standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system in the Outback Wilderness is designed to optimize traction in rain, snow, on rough roads, or even when there’s no road at all. It constantly evaluates acceleration, braking, and cornering in real time to continuously deliver power to all four wheels. If a wheel slips, power is instantaneously transferred to the wheels that have the most grip.

  • With its exceptionally balanced layout, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive delivers a solid connection with the road and an engaged, responsive drive. The entire system lies along the centerline of the vehicle, balancing weight distribution between the two sides to help provide optimal performance and control.

  • With fuel economy up to 27 MPG and over 480 miles of driving range, the 2026 Outback Wilderness delivers competitive fuel efficiency. Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive has demonstrated its durability and low maintenance over four decades of owner-tested Subaru vehicles, so you can be confident your Outback Wilderness will keep taking you farther year after year.

    Harman Kardon® Premium Audio

The Harman Kardon premium audio system captures detail-rich acoustics through enhanced sound control and superior high-sound output. At the heart of the system lies a high-performance 8-channel class-D amplifier pumping out 576 equivalent watts of power. The amplifier works to efficiently distribute clean audio signals to the vehicle’s 12-speaker sound system — including a dedicated center channel speaker and subwoofer. Harman’s Clari-Fi™ Technology restores and corrects audio fidelity, resulting in musical reproduction that sounds clearer, crisper, and more dynamic.

  • The 2026 Outback Wilderness features upgraded standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which acts like an extra set of eyes on the road and if need be, an extra foot on the brake. EyeSight includes a number of advanced active safety systems to protect you and your family on every drive. Automatic Emergency Steering can help you avoid a collision by providing automatic steering and pre-collision braking support if it determines there’s enough space to intervene. EyeSight and other safety features in the Outback Wilderness have been calibrated to match its increased ground clearance and extensive off-road upgrades.

  • Automatic Pre-Collision Braking helps avoid or reduce frontal impacts by alerting you and applying full braking force in emergency situations. Pre-Collision Throttle Management can reduce the power from the engine to help minimize the possible impact force and frontal impact damage.

  • Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering adds extra convenience and safety on every trip.
