  • After 30 years of adventure, the Outback only gets bolder.

Building on decades of adventurous engineering, the all-new 2026 Outback features new style, updated technology, and enhanced safety. The tough, upright profile, redesigned grille, and newly available 19-inch wheels may all be new but the Outback is still built around the legendary capability of standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Standard EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology is upgraded to deliver even more protection and convenience on every drive. And the modern cabin features up to 112.3 cubic feet of passenger volume and up to 80.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, plus a new 12.1-inch touchscreen, for the safest, most advanced, and boldest Outback ever.

  • The standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system in the 2026 Outback AWD midsize SUV is designed to optimize traction in snow, rain, on bad roads, or even when there’s no road at all. It constantly evaluates acceleration, braking, and cornering in real time to continuously deliver power to all four wheels. If a wheel slips, power is instantaneously transferred to the wheels that have the most grip.

  • With its exceptionally balanced layout, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive delivers a solid connection with the road and an engaged, responsive drive. The entire system lies along the centerline of the vehicle, balancing weight distribution between the two sides to help provide optimal performance and control.

  • With gas mileage up to 31 MPG**, the 2026 Outback is an exceptionally fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive midsize SUV. Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive has demonstrated its durability and low maintenance over four decades of owner-tested Subaru vehicles so you can be confident your Outback will keep taking you farther year after year.

A 260-horsepower direct-injection turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine is also available, providing 277 pound-feet of torque for extra power and exciting daily driving.

EyeSight includes a number of advanced active safety systems to protect you and your family on every drive. Newly available Hands-Free Assist can help reduce driver fatigue with automatic steering control under certain conditions. Emergency Stop Assist with Safe Lane Selection, also newly available, can automatically steer towards the shoulder, bring the vehicle to a stop, and activate the hazard lights in the event the driver is incapacitated. Automatic Emergency Steering can help you avoid a collision by providing automatic steering and pre-collision braking support if it determines there’s enough space to intervene.

  • Automatic Pre-Collision Braking helps avoid or reduce frontal impacts by alerting you and applying full braking force in emergency situations. Pre-Collision Throttle Management can reduce the power from the engine to help minimize the possible impact force and frontal impact damage.
