Subaru Tecnica International
Subaru Tecnica International is the global motorsports and performance division of Subaru. Since 1988, STI has studied and applied motorsports and vehicle development engineering to upgrade and refine Subaru vehicles – both for professional racing and for thrilling performance on your favorite back road or tricky corner.
Past STI Vehicles
The 2021 WRX STI represents the Subaru Tecnica International philosophy of balanced engineering – exhilarating power controlled by intuitive handling. A turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine with a large-capacity intercooler produces 310 horsepower, 290 pound-feet of torque, and breathtaking acceleration. The yellow-finished 6-piston front and 2-piston rear Brembo brakes, quick-ratio steering, and sport-tuned suspension let you tackle the trickiest curves. For even more control, the Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) uses a fully electronic control system to vary the front/rear torque distribution for quicker and smoother response. SUBARU STARLINK Multimedia with standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration provides the soundtrack.
Past STI Vehicles
The first S-model to be offered in the U.S., the S209 is the most powerful, best-handling, and most exciting vehicle STI has ever created. From the intake through the turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine to the drivetrain and down to the exhaust, STI engineers retuned the WRX STI into something new, with 341 horsepower
Past STI Vehicles
The 2020 WRX STI Series.White showcases eye-catching new upgrades in both design and performance. Sporting a unique new Ceramic White exterior color and limited to 500 units, it features a high-performance Bilstein® sport-tuned suspension and Brembo brakes with silver calipers for exceptional cornering and stopping ability. BBS matte bronze-finished 19-inch forged alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires give extra grip and stability. Recaro® performance front seats and Keyless Access with Push-Button Start deliver a final touch of comfort and convenience.
Past STI Vehicles
2020 BRZ tS – which stands for “tuned by STI” – pushes the famed handling of the BRZ even further. The stiffened chassis and STI-developed sport suspension gives lightning-quick response and razor-sharp control. Brembo brakes offer total confidence and matte bronze-finished 18 x 7.5-inch STI alloy wheels with Michelin® Pilot® Sport summer performance tires hold fast in the corners. Cherry red accents inside and out give a subtle signal that this BRZ has some extra tricks up its sleeve.
Meet Our Drivers
Subaru Motorsports USA enters 2022 as the reigning Nitro Rallycross champion team, with Travis Pastrana and Scott Speed finishing the 2021 season in a tie on points for the driver's title and Pastrana being crowned champion on tiebreaker.

The award-winning Launch Control documentary series has followed Subaru Motorsports USA since 2013, offering fans an unfiltered, all-access look behind the scenes of a championship-winning rally and rallycross team. The series returns in for its tenth season with an all-new format highlighting the team's 2022 championship run, an inside look at the creation of Gymkhana 2022 and the wild 1983 Subaru GL Family Huckster wagon, and the development of the next WRX rally car.
Subaru Motorsports USA Car Lineup
The Subaru Motorsports USA racing livery looks to the past for inspiration. For nearly two decades, the championship-winning Subaru World Rally Team wore an eye-catching combination of blue paint, gold wheels and bright yellow graphics. To fans all over the world these colors are synonymous with Subaru and performance – today, Subaru Motorsports USA proudly carries forward this legacy with a modern update.
Winner of the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022 American Rally Association (ARA) National Championships, the WRX STI Open 4WD Class sedan is America’s fastest rally car. Technical partner Vermont SportsCar begins with a production WRX STI and adds a full roll cage, race-spec 2.0L turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine, custom aerodynamics package, and heavy-duty rally suspension to create one of the most advanced street-legal competition vehicles in the world.
With more than 600 horsepower and cutting-edge aerodynamics, the VT21x Rallycross Supercar is the WRX STI at its most extreme. Power from the custom-built SUBARU BOXER engine is fed through a sequential six-speed gearbox, allowing for clutchless shifting and a 0-60 time of just two seconds, while the custom-built suspension is designed to handle the launches, jumps, high-speed corners, and wheel-to-wheel impacts of rallycross competition.
When Travis Pastrana needed a car to take the world’s largest automotive viral video franchise to the next level - and break hillclimb records in the process - we delivered the Airslayer, the wildest WRX STI ever built. The Gymkhana 2020 STI starts from a production Subaru shell but shaves over 800 pounds from a stock STI’s curb weight, with a fully caged interior and all-carbon body. The 2.3L billet SUBARU BOXER engine produces 862hp, while the long-travel suspension is designed to take the punishment of huge jumps and still execute precision tire-shredding slides. The aero package is wind tunnel-proven to deliver downforce at high speed while an active rear wing allows Pastrana to adjust the car’s attitude in midair.
Travis Pastrana's newest Gymkhana machine - built by the masters at Vermont SportsCar - is a carbon fiber-bodied wagon in the style of the 1983 GL wagon. Beneath its custom tubular chassis are an 862-hp SUBARU BOXER four-cylinder engine, six-speed sequential gearbox and all-wheel drive, The Huckster incorporates active aerodynamics for the fenders and tailgate that are unlike any Gymkhana car ever built, all controlled from a 12-inch digital display in the custom blue carbon fiber dash panel.
