Higgins and Drew 20th at Wales Rally GB

November 15, 2015

David Higgins and Craig Drew completed the arduous 3 Day Wales Rally GB this afternoon with a fantastic top 20 overall finish. Despite continuing heavy rain, and in some locations intense winds, the rally completed without much drama. The 2015 Subaru WRX STI continued to perform flawlessly and alongside Higgins and Drew the car proved its ability to compete against much faster cars. For a production car to place in the top 20 among the worlds best is simply amazing. Congratulations to David Higgins and Craig Drew! We could not be more proud.

The popular Great Orme Stage (SS18 – 4.74km) with sweeping views of seaside cliffs surrounding Llandudno was unfortunately closed to spectators. Organizers became concerned for safety due to high winds that were gusting at 50+ mph. The views are up against steep drops hundreds of feet down and it presented an obvious danger. The final service and finish celebration took place at the Deeside Service Park where fans lined up to see their favorite drivers one last time. Three time World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia took an early lead and won the event overall.

After years of racing in America it was amazing for David Higgins and Craig Drew to finally compete in a Subaru on their own soil. The fans loved it and seeing the blue and yellow Subaru slide through the Welsh forests stirred many memories of Colin McRae and the Subaru World Rally Team era. David Higgins noted after the event, “Our Subaru ran very well and the team did an excellent job pulling this project together. Having a Subaru back in action at the WRC was brilliant and seeing the response from the crowd made it all worth the effort. We had a great event and this was the perfect way to finish off our season!”
