Returning The Love Pets Give Us.

According to the ASPCA®, each year approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter shelters. At Subaru, we strive to be "more than a car company" and we are committed to helping all animals — including those in shelters — stay safe and healthy.

A core principle of our Subaru Loves Pets initiative is an ongoing commitment to help all pets find their perfect, loving home. We stand by this commitment through a scale of actions; from supporting local pet-adoption efforts to being the ASPCA®’s largest corporate donor. Subaru is proud to have donated over $30 million to support the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of more than 250,000 animals.

Every year in October, we amplify our love of pets by ramping up helpful initiatives during our annual Subaru Loves Pets month. It's our long-standing commitment to help shelter dogs – especially those with special needs like the older, deaf, blind, and “different” dogs that we lovingly call the “Underdogs” – get adopted.

For the third year in a row, Subaru celebrated our National Make A Dog’s Day on October 22. A day where we encouraged all dog lovers to do something extra special for their dogs. This day, combined with Subaru Loves Pets Month efforts, helped many pets find loving homes – including thousands of incredible Underdogs.

Founded more than 150 years ago, the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) was the first animal welfare organization to be established in North America and today serves as the nation’s leading voice for vulnerable and victimized animals. The ASPCA is committed to preventing cruelty to dogs, cats, equines, and farm animals throughout the United States. The ASPCA assists animals in need through on-the-ground disaster and cruelty interventions, behavioral rehabilitation, animal placement, legal and legislative advocacy, and the advancement of the sheltering and veterinary community through research, training, and resources.

Subaru is proud to be the ASPCA’s largest corporate donor. Since 2008, Subaru has donated over $30 million to the ASPCA, helped support over 1,500 animal welfare related events, and significantly impacted the rescue, transport, and adoption of more than 74,000 animals nationwide.

Subaru is the 2021 recipient of the ASPCA Corporate Compassion Award. The first to ever receive this award, Subaru has been recognized for its longstanding commitment and efforts to protect and support pets nationwide. In recent years, Subaru has elevated their commitments through their Subaru Loves Pets initiative, annual Subaru Share the Love® Event, and National Make A Dog’s Day celebration, which shines a light on our nation’s “Underdogs” — special needs and senior animals in shelters.
