Our Commitment

At Subaru we believe that our differences make us stronger. We all have a story shaped by our experiences. These experiences allow us to learn from each other, respond with unique approaches, launch innovative programs and ultimately, grow stronger together.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are core to our culture, how we make decisions and how we treat each other as humans first. From our employees to our community to our retailers we value each unique story and create the space for belonging and an environment of equity.

For this reason, Subaru has a rich history of reaching and supporting a diverse customer base and this is why we have partnered with select organizations to broaden our reach among diverse communities – organizations such as:

Business Partners

Suppliers

Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion extends to the suppliers with whom we do business.  We expect our suppliers to share our values and we are serious enough to include this provision in all our contracts.  We obtain and track information regarding a supplier’s ownership and management, including recognized certifications for businesses owned by members of underrepresented groups.  This information is reviewed, along with our total expenditures with suppliers with diversity in their ownership and management.  Approximately 50% of our expenditures in 2018 were to female owned businesses.

Subaru Retailers

In addition to our work to champion diversity and inclusion within our four walls, we actively seek ways to increase diversity, equity and inclusion across our network of retailers. To help with this effort, Subaru has developed a long-standing relationship with the National Association of Minority Auto Dealers (NAMAD). For more than 15 years, we have worked closely with NAMAD in our efforts to develop a more diverse retailer body.
