wrx direct injection

Direct Injection

Direct injection uses high-pressure injections of fuel directly into the
combustion chamber. This injection method combined with a twin-scroll
turbocharger gives the FA20 engine a broad spread of power, and
exceptional fuel economy for an engine of such high output.
2016 WRX

Sport Lineartronic™ Transmission

The available Sport Lineartronic Transmission with 6- and 8-speed
manual modes and paddle shifters fires off shifts in fractions of a second,
rivaling competitor's dual-clutch transmissions. Unique to models equipped
with this transmission is the Variable Torque Distribution AWD system, with
a rear-wheel bias for enhanced handling feel.
WRX VDC

Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control with Active Torque Vectoring

The Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system combines high performance with higher confidence. It features Active Torque Vectoring,
which enhances handling performance by braking the inside front wheel to sharpen turn-in and allow for more neutral steering. In
Normal mode, this integrated system engages the brakes and cuts power to help keep you on your line if it detects a loss of control.
But for more edgy performance, switch VDC to Traction mode and you’ll increase the threshold before the system intervenes. It’ll
allow you to drive closer to the car’s limits, and it won’t cut engine power, so your right foot will stay in charge. And if you happen to
get stuck in mud or snow, you can even turn off VDC to help the tires dig out.
WRX AWD

All-Wheel Drive

Manual transmission-equipped models feature Continuous AWD with a
50/50 front-to-back power split, and a mechanical viscous-type center
differential to vary the power split when there is a loss of traction. WRX
models equipped with the Sport Lineartronic Transmission feature the
Variable Torque Distribution AWD system, with a rear-wheel bias for
enhanced handling feel. The end result of both systems is more control
and more acceleration from every ounce of power.

Performance every day.

Inspired by years of successful racing on all surfaces and passionate
drivers around the globe, the WRX has been designed to thrive in the
most demanding environment of all: the real world.

Dual Active Valve Control System

Dual Active Valve Control System (DAVCS) utilizes both the intake and
exhaust camshafts to provide optimal airflow in and out of the engine,
creating freer breathing and more power throughout the RPM range.

Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD)

Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD)

With an array of sensors monitoring everything from yaw rate to steering and
braking, DCCD set to Auto mode keeps an eye on your vehicle and your
driving and optimizes the distribution of power in real time — giving you
exceptional control and the best all-around performance. Or, you can
customize how it distributes power between the front and rear wheels. Select
Auto Minus (–), and it sends more power to the rear wheels for greater
handling agility. Auto Plus (+) keeps more power in the front — increasing
grip on the road. You can even fine-tune the DCCD with Manual mode. It
offers six levels of adjustment, so you can lock the distribution of power to
your personal preference.
SI-DRIVE

SI-DRIVE

Like having three engines in one, SI-DRIVE lets you adjust the way your
STI performs with three distinct settings.
Intelligent — Ideal for wet roads or stop-and-go traffic, Intelligent
mode softens throttle response and reduces acceleration for a more
   relaxing drive.
Sport — Between Intelligent and Sport Sharp modes, Sport mode is just
the right balance of smoothness and strong power delivery for great
   all-around performance.
Sport Sharp — Sport Sharp mode unleashes the STI engine's full potential,
giving you maximum acceleration and performance when you need it.

Performance you can dial.

For those who consider speed and precision to be forms of self-expression,
the advanced WRX STI technologies allow you to personalize its
performance for all your driving impulses.
