Cherry Hill, N.J, August 27, 2013 - Subaru of America, Inc. today announced pricing for the 2014 XV Crosstrek, Tribeca and Impreza models.

With sales up 27 percent year-to-date and 43 percent in July alone, Subaru of America has reached mid-year sales of 240,591 units. To keep the momentum going for another all-time sales record, Subaru is targeting competitive pricing across the board.

2014 XV Crosstrek

New to the Subaru lineup in 2013, the XV Crosstrek delivers a high-capability crossover package with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, 17-inch alloy wheels and ample room for passengers and cargo. The XV Crosstrek Premium with 5-speed manual transmission maintains an MSRP of $21,995.

The versatile, fun-to-drive XV Crosstrek continues to be one of the most fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive crossovers in America, delivering 33 MPG highway. The XV Crosstrek combines efficiency with bold five-door design and a highly capable chassis. The XV Crosstrek targets the fast-growing compact crossover utility segment offering AWD, fuel economy and safety ratings, everyday comfort and the most in-demand infotainment features.

All 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek models are powered by a 148-horsepower 2.0-liter BOXER engine, teamed to Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive via a five-speed manual transmission or available second-generation Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Fuel economy figures of 25 mpg city / 33 mpg highway / 28 mpg combined (with CVT) will put the 2014 XV Crosstrek among the most fuel-efficient crossovers on the market, and make it comparable to many front-wheel drive competitors.

The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek incorporates numerous body and chassis enhancements for its expanded-capability mission. Black side- and wheel-arch cladding, rocker spoiler and roof rails provide a rugged contrast to the body color. The higher ride height, body-color roof spoiler and unique-design 17-inch wheels bolster the XV Crosstrek model’s go-anywhere stance and attitude. The rugged styling is backed up by function, as the four-wheel independent suspension features a raised configuration along with 8.7 inches of ground clearance. Front and rear bumpers and the front grille are unique to the Subaru XV Crosstrek, and dark-tint privacy glass is standard.

Subaru offers the 2014 XV Crosstrek in Premium and Limited models, the latter adding additional luxury amenities and infotainment technology. Among the standard features in the Premium are the All-Weather Package (heated front seats, heated side mirrors and windshield wiper de-icer); a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth® control switches; power windows, door locks and side mirrors; multi-function display with fuel economy information; security system with engine immobilizer; outside temperature gauge, and carpeted floormats. 2014 Subaru Tribeca

The Subaru Tribeca 7-passenger crossover SUV continues for 2014 offered solely in the Limited trim line. Standard amenities include leather seating, moonroof, heated front seats and an auxiliary air conditioning unit with headliner-mounted vents in the second and third row seats.

The Subaru 3.6-liter BOXER engine is engineered to produce powerful low-end torque, and its use of regular-grade fuel helps reduce operating costs. Active Valve Control System (AVCS) variable valve timing is employed on both the intake and exhaust camshafts. The engine produces 256 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft. of peak torque. Notably, the 3.6-liter engine sustains at least 225 lb.-ft. of torque from 2,000 to 6,000 rpm. A specially tuned five-speed automatic transmission helps give the Tribeca ample acceleration and merging power and makes it feel exceptionally smooth and responsive in everyday driving.

The Tribeca’s twin cockpit interior design features a flowing, sculpted dash and center console design. Aluminum-look trim highlights the sculpted shapes of the dashboard. Electroluminescent dials and subtle ambient interior footwell lighting provide a sophisticated touch. The center console is anchored by an information center that groups the readouts for the audio system, clock, fuel economy, and outside temperature.

The Tribeca provides a very quiet, comfortable cabin. Luxury in the 2014 Tribeca Limited includes a long roster of amenities, among them leather seating surfaces for front and second rows; 8-way power driver’s seat with 2-position memory; 4-way power passenger seat; dual-zone automatic climate control system; auxiliary air conditioning system for second and third rows; harman/kardon® Premium Audio system with subwoofer; XM Satellite radio receiver and antenna; BlueConnect® hands-free Bluetooth phone connectivity; a leather-wrapped steering wheel with remote audio controls, and ambient center console and cup-holder illumination.

2014 Subaru Impreza- Most fuel efficient AWD car in America

The 2014 Impreza offers the highest fuel economy of any all-wheel drive, gasoline car offered in the United States. Its EPA ratings of 27 mpg city / 36 mpg highway / 30 mpg combined for models with the Lineartronic® continuously variable transmission (CVT) are comparable with front-wheel drive cars. The 2014 Impreza also offers a 5-speed manual transmission priced at $17,895.

Offered in 4 and 5-door models, the 2014 Impreza weighs less than some front-wheel drive compact models, yet high-strength construction preserves Subaru’s standard for safety, vehicle integrity and agility. Every 2014 Impreza is equipped as standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and powered by a 148-hp 2.0-liter Subaru BOXER engine.

Impreza 2.0i and 2.0i Premium trims are offered with 5-speed manual transmission or the lighter, more compact second-generation version of the Subaru-engineered Lineartronic CVT. Unlike a conventional automatic transmission, which uses fixed gear ratios, a CVT provides infinite variability between the highest and lowest available ratios with no discernable steps or shifts. The CVT continuously and smoothly adapts to performance demand, helping to keep the engine in its most efficient operating range. Impreza 2.0i models equipped with CVT have a starting MSRP of $18,895.

Impreza Premium, Sport and Limited models with the CVT also feature a 6-speed manual mode with steering wheel paddle shifters, which allow the driver to control the transmission via six pre-set ratios. Well-equipped Impreza 2.0i Limited models with CVT as standard are priced at $22,195.

All 2014 Impreza models feature as standard a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, power windows, door locks and side mirrors, a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, outside temperature gauge, a multi-function display with fuel economy information, remote keyless entry system, security system with engine immobilizer, variable intermittent windshield wipers and a low windshield washer fluid warning light.

Impreza Premium models add 16-inch alloy wheels, steering wheel audio and Bluetooth® control switches, a rear stabilizer bar for crisper handling, 6-speaker audio system, adjustable console armrest, body-color exterior mirrors and chrome interior door handles. The All-Weather Package, which is standard on the 2.0i Premium 5-speed and optional for the 2.0i Premium with CVT, adds heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and a windshield wiper de-icer.

A power moonroof and navigation system are available on Premium models. The navigation system includes a 6.1-inch touch screen LCD display, Rear Vision Camera, voice control, iTunes® tagging, SMS text messaging capability, XM® Satellite Radio and XM NavTraffic (both XM services require subscriptions). Updated map data can be downloaded to a personal computer and then transferred into the system via secure digital (SD) card.

For 2014, Aha® Infotainment smartphone integration included with the optional navigation system for all 2.0i Premium, 2.0i Limited and 2.0i Sport Limited models.

Competitively priced at $20,795, the Impreza 2.0i Sport Premium is a five-door-only model that gets a more aggressive stance from body-color rocker panel spoilers and standard 17-inch alloy wheels. Also standard are fog lights, roof rails, unique seat fabric and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

Topping the 2014 Impreza range, the Limited and Sport Limited (five-door only) models deliver the highest level of comfort and convenience offered in the Impreza line. Leather seating is standard, along with a display-type audio system featuring a 4.3-inch display screen and standard HD Radio. Rear vision camera is now standard on Limited models and pricing begins at $22,195.

Destination & Delivery is $795 and may vary in the following states: CT, HI, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI and VT. D&D is $945 for dealers in Alaska.

SUBARU ANNOUNCES 2014 BRZ PRICING

- BRZ sales up 200 percent YTD over 2013

Cherry Hill, N.J, August 23, 2013 - Subaru of America, Inc. today announced pricing for the 2014 BRZ. Starting at $25,595, the BRZ lineup focuses on the fundamentals of great sports car design: low vehicle weight, an ultra-low center of gravity and precision steering.

Sales of the Subaru BRZ remain strong and were up 41 percent in June and up 200 percent year-to-date, bolstering record-setting corporate sales for the first half of the year. With sales up 27-percent overall and more than 240,000 units sold through July, Subaru of America is on target for another all-time yearly sales record.

Subaru developed the rear-wheel drive BRZ utilizing an all-new naturally aspirated 200-horsepower horizontally opposed (BOXER) engine design. The BRZ is a sports car that does not sacrifice everyday comfort and practicality, including up to manufacturer-estimated 34 mpg highway fuel economy (with 6-speed automatic transmission). With 2+2 seating and a folding rear seat, the BRZ is a practical daily driver and a powerful performer.

The 2014 Subaru BRZ also delivers impressive fuel economy, with manufacturer-estimated ratings of 22 mpg city / 30 mpg highway / 25 mpg combined with the 6-speed manual transmission, and 25 mpg city / 34 mpg highway / 28 mpg combined with the 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Subaru engineering that yields the ultra-low center of gravity in the BRZ also made it easy for designers to craft a very low-slung coupe body. A low roof height of just 50.6 inches, combined with a swept-back roofline, bulging front fenders, short overhangs and pronounced rear haunches give the BRZ a decidedly lean, athletic stance. The car’s hawkeye high intensity discharge (HID) headlights, hexagonal lower grille and six-star ornament instantly convey Subaru identity. The BRZ Limited model adds a body-color trunk spoiler, standard fog light and Alcantara trimmed interior and Keyless Access.

Available in Premium or Limited trim levels, models include all performance features, such as the sport-tuned suspension with front strut brace and TORSEN limited-slip differential.

The Subaru BRZ Limited offers additional comfort and amenities. Externally, the BRZ Limited is distinguished with fog lights and a body-color trunk spoiler. Inside, the seats are upholstered with Alcantara inserts and leather bolsters. New for 2014 is Aha® infotainment smartphone integration included with the standard navigation system. The BRZ Limited has a starting price of $27,595.

The BRZ Limited substitutes a dual-zone automatic climate control for the Premium model’s manual HVAC system, and its standard All-Weather Package includes dual-mode heated front seats and heated side mirrors. A full security system augments the engine immobilizer that is standard in the Premium model. In the Limited, the dual visor vanity mirrors are illuminated, and front door courtesy lights illuminate when the doors are opened. The only factory option is the BRZ Limited model equipped with the 6-speed automatic transmission priced at $28,695.

Subaru Earns Second Straight Podium in Global RallyCross Championship

- Subaru drivers Sverre Isachsen and Dave Mirra finish third and fourth place respectively

Cherry Hill, N.J., August 12, 2013 - The Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team earned their strongest finish of season this past weekend at the Global RallyCross Championship round at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Drivers Sverre Isachsen and Dave Mirra finished third and fourth respectively, earning Subaru their second straight podium finish after Isachsen’s Bronze medal finish the weekend prior at X Games Los Angeles. The finish is all the more impressive considering Isachsen and Mirra started the Final at the very back of the nine-car grid. Isachsen has now advanced to the past five finals and has three consecutive top-five finishes.

Held on a custom built dirt and tarmac course on Atlanta Motor Speedway’s front stretch, the event was one of this season’s roughest. A massive jump combined with deeply-rutted loose gravel led to frequent body damage, but made for great racing. The Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team entered a trio of Vermont SportsCar prepared Subaru WRX STI RallyCross cars for drivers Sverre Isachsen, Dave Mirra and Bucky Lasek, featuring Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and nearly 600hp.

The path to the strong finish was anything but easy for the team. All three drivers experienced challenges in their early Heat races. Isachsen was assessed a stop-and-go penalty in his first Heat for alleged aggressive driving as he was cut-off entering the chaotic first turn. The penalty dropped him to third place in his Heat race, missing a chance to transfer to the Final. Meanwhile both Mirra and Lasek had challenging Heat races, narrowly missing a top two finish position that would transfer them to the final. All three Subaru PUMA RallyCross team cars ran the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ).

Mirra showed impressive speed in the LCQ by passing teammate Isachsen then chasing down and passing the race leader Timur Timerzyanov, the defending European Rallycross Champion. Mirra went on to win the LCQ, with Isachsen third. Lasek was beset by a mechanical problem and unable to advance.

In the Final, both Isachsen and Mirra started from the back of the nine car grid and expertly avoided the inevitable first-turn carnage. Mirra, fast yet again, was spun out from behind early in the Final by rival Scott Speed, dropping him to the back of the pack and earning Speed a black flag stop-n-go penalty. Isachsen then worked his way up to third overall and his second podium in a row while Mirra clawed his way back to fourth overall and his best finish to-date in Global RallyCross competition.

“It was good fighting in the Final here,” said Isachsen at the podium celebration. “It was everything or nothing in the Final and I gave everything and ended on top!

“My Subaru was dialed in this weekend and my crew didn’t miss a beat,” explained Mirra. “They gave me an amazing car this weekend and it was great to go out and finish 4th. I’m certain we would have finished even better if it were not for getting spun out early, but we showed we could bounce back.”

SUBARU DOUBLES THE LOVE DURING SIXTH ANNUAL “SHARE THE LOVE” EVENT

Cherry Hill, N.J., August 9, 2013 - Subaru of America, Inc. has announced it will donate $10 million to charitable partners during its sixth annual “Share the Love” event. In 2012, Subaru donated $5 million to “Share the Love” charities and over the course of the five year program, Subaru has donated a total of $25 million.

From Nov. 21, 2013 to Jan.2, 2014, Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer's choice of the following charities: ASPCA®, Make-A-Wish®, Meals On Wheels Association of America®, National Park Foundation and Teach for America. In addition to the five national organizations, Subaru retailers have the opportunity to add a sixth local charity for customers to support.

The sales growth experienced by the brand in recent years means that by continuing to donate $250 per vehicle sold during the program, total charitable contributions will likewise increase, this year to $10 million.

“We are excited to be able to share more love with more charities – including the charities in our owners’ backyards,” said Subaru chief marketing officer Dean Evans. “By the end of this year, Subaru and Subaru owners will have given $35 million to diverse and worthy causes.”

The MSRPs for the WRX apply to both the four-door sedan and the five-door model, leaving the customer to choose trim level, color and port or dealer-installed accessories. The 2014 WRX Limited, with an MSRP of $29,495, adds leather-trimmed upholstery and high-intensity discharged (HID) headlights. The WRX STI is also exclusively equipped with a Brembo® Performance Brake System, Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) and Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system, the latter featuring a track performance-optimized mode.

The 2012 WRX STI is available in both four- and five-door models. The four-door comes in STI and STI Limited versions, with MSRPs of $34,495 and $37,845, respectively. All WRX STI models include as standard HID headlights and the All-Weather Package, with heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and a windshield wiper de-icer.

The WRX STI five-door, with an MSRP of $36,495, comes equipped with the BBS® forged aluminum-alloy wheels, along with fog lights, rear window wiper/washer and special cargo area features. The event was held on a purpose built gravel and tarmac race course at the Irwindale Event Center in Los Angeles, California. The Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team entered Sverre Isachsen, Dave Mirra and Bucky Lasek in identical Vermont SportsCar prepared 2013 Subaru WRX STI Rallycross cars featuring Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Damage from an on-track incident prevented Mirra from making a run to the Final while Lasek finished 3rd Overall in the Last Chance Qualifier heat, just missing one of the two transfer spots to the Final.

Team leader Isachsen however had a fantastic run by first triumphing over 2011 X Games Los Angeles Rallycross Gold medal winner Brian Deegan in the first Heat race. With the Heat race victory Isachsen advanced straight to Final and would start from the coveted front row of the grid. Isachsen mistakenly launched his Subaru just a moment too soon in the Final as the green start lights flashed and although he held an early lead he would need to perform a stop-and-go penalty due to the jump start. The stop-and-go penalty dropped Isachsen from 1st Overall to 4th Overall but he was able to make a clean pass on Travis Pastrana mid-way through the race to take 3rd Overall. The only scare came in the final two laps when Isachsen’s left rear tire was punctured slowing his challenge toward 2nd Overall. He was able to hold on to 3rd Overall easily however and earned his first X Games medal in the process.

“I’m so glad right now,” said Isachsen at the medal ceremony. “This is like a victory for us. I want to thank all my crew and team in the Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team. We deserved this one! My Subaru was really good today and I was really happy with beating Deegan in the heat race as well. I’m very happy to earn a Bronze for Subaru today!”

There won’t be much time for celebration as the team’s trucks are already en-route to the next round of the Global RallyCross Championship at Atlanta Motor Speedway Saturday, August 10th. The Atlanta round will be televised live on ESPN2, August 10th at 6:30pm ET.

Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team Enters X Games Gymkhana Grid with driver David Higgins

August 1, 2013 - The Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team revealed today they will enter a car for Subaru driver David Higgins in the Gymkhana Grid event making its X Games Los Angeles debut this weekend. Higgins, who drives full time for Subaru Rally Team USA is the defending Rally America Champion while also serving as both test driver and spotter for the Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team. Both teams are run by Subaru technical partner Vermont SportsCar. Higgins will drive one of the team’s 2012 specification Global RallyCross Cars in the Gymkhana Grid event at the Irwindale Speedway on Saturday August 3rd, 2013. The following day, the Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team with drivers Sverre Isachsen, Dave Mirra and Bucky Lasek will compete in the X Games Global RallyCross Event also held at Irwindale Speedway.

The Gymakhana Grid event will be televised live on Saturday August 3rd on ESPN at 10:30 EDT and the Global RallyCross Event will be televised live on Sunday August 4th on ESPN at 5:00PM EDT.

X Games Los Angeles will for the first time include the discipline of Gymkhana, which has been made popular by former Subaru driver Ken Block in his viral Gymkhana YouTube videos. The Gymkhana Grid event will feature drivers competing head to head on a specially designed mirrored courses consisting of cones, tires, barrels and other obstacles. The race will require drivers to perform figure eights, 180-degree spins and other advanced driving techniques to get through the course as quickly as possible, with the faster driver advancing on. Higgins will pilot a Subaru WRX STI with over 400hp and Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

“I’m really looking forward to doing Gymkhana Grid at the X Games,” said Higgins. “It has most of the fun parts of Rally and Rallycross with sliding and precision driving but without the door-to-door contact or big risk of damage, so it’s maybe easier to have fun out there!”

Higgins is no stranger to the X Games, having competed the last two years in a row, and having earned a Bronze medal at the 2011 X Games Los Angeles’ Rally Car Racing event. He is also no stranger to the Gymkhana Grid’s founder Ken Block whom he competes against in the Rally America Championship. Higgins and Block are currently locked in a tight battle in that series with Higgins leading the championship points standings with two rounds to go, aiming for his third straight Rally America title with Subaru Rally Team USA.

“I have a little battle going on with Ken [Block] and I hope we can continue it here in Los Angeles,” said Higgins. “However, Gymkhana is Ken’s sport, he practices and has the car setup likely perfect. It won’t be easy to beat him here at his own game!”

Subaru Provides Vehicles to the Academy of Natural Sciences’ Outreach Program

Philadelphia, August 1, 2013 - The live raptors, skunks and snakes that visit classrooms in the tri-state area through the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University will have a comfortable new means of transport, thanks to the generous support from Subaru. And so will their teacher-naturalists chaperones.

Subaru of America, which is headquartered in Cherry Hill, N.J., recently donated the use of two shiny new Outbacks for the museum’s popular Academy on the Go outreach program. The program brings the excitement of a museum visit—complete with specimens, live animals and expert naturalists—to more than 200 classrooms, fairs and festivals in the region, serving more than 26,000 children and adults. The cars will be easily identifiable by their colorful graphics depicting birds, bugs and dinosaurs.

“We are thrilled to have these much needed vehicles to bring our special museum experience to audiences outside of the city,” said Jacquie Genovesi, the Academy’s director of education.

”The Academy is a premier organization that shares our love of science and nature,” said Sandy Capell, community services manager for Subaru. “Subaru is thrilled to be able to support their efforts to increase children’s interest in science and wildlife.”

While thousands of schoolchildren and their teachers take field trips to the Academy, many enjoy the convenience of having the museum come to them. Through Academy on the Go, students and other audiences get a chance to see up close the Academy’s squawking hawks, curling snakes, creeping tarantulas, and other live creatures. These animals are Academy ambassadors to help people learn about the environment, conservation, habitat loss and other issues. They are either injured and can’t survive in the wild or they came to the museum as unwanted pets.

The outreach lessons, tied to state and national standards for science education, also feature a variety of specimens. The Academy’s scientific collections hold more than 18 million plant and animal specimens, and the teaching collection provides an introduction to the various disciplines studied by Academy scientists, including paleontology, ornithology and botany.
