Charlotte Motor Speedway has added even more excitement to the 10 greatest days in racing with the addition of a Global RallyCross Championship (GRC) event during the Coca-Cola 600 weekend.
"This is an incredible way to add even more entertainment to what's already the most jam-packed 10 days in motorsports," said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. "Global RallyCross is where 'big air' meets high speed. These drivers combine racing, drifting and stunt jumps into a high-impact show with a jaw-dropping WOW factor."
The event at Charlotte Motor Speedway is part of a new relationship between Global RallyCross Championship and Speedway Motorsports, Inc. that will bring rallycross events to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and IZOD IndyCar race weekends at select venues throughout the 2012 season.
This year's race at Charlotte Motor Speedway will follow the NASCAR Nationwide Series HISTORY 300 on Saturday, May 26. All HISTORY 300 ticketholders will be granted admission to the GRC event. The competitor pit area will be open before and after the race to give fans an up-close look at the high-performance rallycross cars.

Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team Ready to Launch 2013 Campaign at X Games Barcelona

Cherry Hill, N.J., - The Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team will kick off its 2013 season with a three-car effort this Sunday at X Games Barcelona. Returning to race the trio of 600 hp Subaru PUMA WRX STI RallyCross cars, will be three-time European RallyCross Champ Sverre Isachsen, BMX icon and seasoned RallyCross driver Dave Mirra and Skate legend Bucky Lasek, in his sophomore year competing in Rallycross.

The event was held on a unique road course incorporating parts of the oval at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina and ran following the NASCAR Nationwide race in front of thousands of likely new fans.
On the heels of the History 300 Nationwide Series race, the first round of the 2012 Global RallyCross Championship commenced in front of a cheering crowd at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Two sets of qualifying rounds preceded the last-chance qualifier and the final race on an all-tarmac course. The SUBARU PUMA RallyCross Team USA cars performed competitively but were edged out of a podium finish. It is a disappointing result given the tireless hours and hard work put into preparing the cars for this event; however, the team will have another shot at the GRC podium when the series continues at the Texas Motor Speedway in just two weeks.
The SUBARU PUMA RallyCross Team USA hauler rolled onto the grounds of Charlotte Motor Speedway early Wednesday morning. The crew immediately got to work testing the cars and making preparations for the first round of the 2012 Global RallyCross Championship. This monumental event takes place under the banner of the Coca-Cola 600 Race Weekend. Marking the first time a RallyCross race has taken place in conjunction with a NASCAR event, GRC will be gaining a new audience of horsepower-addicted motorsports fans, this time in a stadium that seats 140,000.
This week the SUBARU PUMA RallyCross Team heads to Charlotte, NC for Round 1 of the Global RallyCross Championship. Subaru of America, Inc. has announced the official sponsorship of sportslifestyle brand PUMA for the Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team. As part of the multi-year sponsorship agreement with Subaru, PUMA becomes the official supplier of team and racewear and an exclusive licensing partner to the team for footwear and apparel.
The Global RallyCross Championship (GRC) has partnered with Speedway Motorsports, Inc. for the 2012
