Despite a fantastic effort by Subaru PUMA RallyCross Team USA the chance at another podium finish slipped away during the final round of the 2012 Global RallyCross Championship. Team drivers Dave Mirra and Bucky Lasek qualified directly from their heat races to the A Main Final Tuesday evening. Mirra managed to hold off a number of drivers to finish sixth overall. Lasek, in his second consecutive final didn't finish the race, but drove well throughout the event. Sverre Isachsen, coming off a podium finish in the most recent GRC event at the Las Vegas Speedway, became entangled with a number of other cars on the first turn of the opening heat and failed to directly qualify for the finals. Racing in the Last Chance Qualifier, Sverre was forced into a dirt embankment when another competitor went off track. The impact, although relatively minor, caused a flat tire which forced Sverre to pull out of the race.
The Global RallyCross event at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas was a huge hit. The stands were filled to capacity and spectators could be seen enjoying the action from nearby parking garages. Downtown Las Vegas proved to be a perfect location for the season finale, convenient for teams and fans alike. We hope to return next year and are looking forward to the upcoming 2013 season.
