The 2011 Global RallyCross Championship (GRC) continues this weekend on to Round 2: Twin Peaks. Held at the Old Mill Adventure Park in scenic Snoqualmie, Washington, the event features an exciting course with all of the makings of an excellent RallyCross. There's plenty of gravel, some tarmac hairpins, a 70-foot jump, and a fast straight through an old lumberyard warehouse. The Twin Peaks event spans two days and warmed up today with the head-to-head SuperRally races for two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive classes. Piloting the #40 WRX STI, Subaru Rally Team USA's Dave Mirra placed second in qualifying for the AWD SuperRally. Despite a heroic overtaking which elicited uproarious cheers from the crowd, Mirra was eliminated from the quarterfinals and did not advance further today. GRC Round 2 continues tomorrow with a packed day of RallyCross culminating in a final race with as many as six cars on the course at the same time. No matter what the weather, the Twin Peaks course will host an awesome battle of horsepower and wits.
