This Saturday, Subaru Rally Team USA competed in the first installment of the three-event Global Rallycross Championship. Named "The Revolution," the race was held at the Irwindale Speedway outside Los Angeles, CA.
Pitted against some of the world's top rallycross competitors, SRT USA's Dave Mirra finished fourth in the A Main final. "This was awesome, the course was fun and challenging but it was the wheel-to-wheel racing with a field of great drivers and cars that made it special," explained Mirra. "My team just built a new Subaru meant just for rallycross and it's a beast, an amazing machine. This new car is a lot different from our stage rally STI with many new components, so we have a lot of work and testing still to do. I'm really looking forward to my next rallycross where I know we can battle for a podium spot."
The fierce competition included talent from the European Rallycross Championship and World Rally Championship and featured drivers such as Michael Jernberg, Pontus Tidemand, and the event winner plus two-time WRC champion, Markus Gronholm.
Round 2 in the Global Rallycross Championship is scheduled to take place at the Old Mill Rally Park near Seattle, WA on April 15-16.
