Partnership Grants

About Grants and Recipients

We are targeted in our approach to community investments and focus mainly on youth-based environmental programs as well as those that enhance the academic learning experience.

We seek partnerships that:

  • Engage youth and encourage their active participation in the learning experience, including (but not limited to) professional development for educators, programs that enhance math and science education, and literacy improvement and education.
  • Promote environmental stewardship and education for youth, including (but not limited to) school gardens and science exploration as it pertains to the environment.
  • Benefit youth through grade 12.

The SOAF Board, at its sole discretion, may also fund programs that address the basic needs of local residents. Proposals will not be accepted for basic needs grants at the present time, but will be awarded at the discretion of the Board.

SOAF directs its energies to local interests - those organizations surrounding our corporate (where primary consideration is given) and regional offices. Our Board may decide to support programs in other locations, but such grants will be Board-directed. Only proposals serving the geographic locations listed will be considered.

Impact Stories

Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory image
Thanks to the grant we received from the Subaru of America Foundation, we've been able to work with schools and youth organizations on our Marine Education Initiative Program. Through boat building projects, we're teaching students around Philadelphia how to find and define personal success. They're not only gaining the technical skills to complete the projects, but they're also learning personal responsibility and how to work in groups.

A grant from the Subaru of America Foundation is being used to support the implementation of our School Learning Lab, "Wheels, Levers and Pulleys," in 18 fourth-grade classrooms around Itasca, Illinois. Thanks for helping to produce our future scientists and engineers.

The Subaru of America Foundation directly supported a one-week summit for high school students from the New Jersey and New York Metropolitan areas. Here, students learned about water quality and quantity issues for agricultural, industrial and residential use. They not only gained a clearer understanding of this science, but they also learned key skills such as understanding and accepting diverse perspectives and how to productively negotiate and mediate conflicts. Together, we've helped them learn new skills that they wouldn't otherwise have gained in high school.
