Subaru and Bluetooth
Take your calls on the road and keep your hands on the wheel.
What is Bluetooth technology?
Bluetooth technology uses short-range radio frequencies to wirelessly connect and exchange information between a range of electronic devices, including PDAs, laptop and personal computers, MP3 players, and more. The Subaru Bluetooth Hands Free system supports voice and phonebook data transfer from compatible cell phones only.
For which Subaru vehicles is the Bluetooth Hands Free Kit available?
2008 Impreza, Impreza WRX, and WRX STI models with factory Navigation systems as well as 2009 Forester with factory installed navigation.
How does the Bluetooth Handsfree Kit work with my mobile phone?
The system “pairs” with compatible mobile phones allowing it to send & receive voice data and receive calls using the control buttons on your Subaru’s steering wheel and navigation screen. A microphone in the vehicle picks up your voice, while your caller’s voice is heard through the front speakers of the vehicle’s audio system.
How far is the range of the Bluetooth signal?
Anywhere within the vehicle is more than adequate to maintain a connection. Depending on several factors, Bluetooth technology generally supports a range of up to 30 feet.
Can I connect more than one mobile phone?
Yes — your Subaru Bluetooth Handsfree Kit can connect with and recognize up to five compatible mobile phones, although you can only use one phone at a time to make or receive calls.
Which wireless service providers in my area offer Bluetooth compatibility?
Bluetooth compatibility can vary widely by geographic area and provider — please go to Phone Compatibility for information on a specific wireless carrier.
Which mobile phone models are Bluetooth-compatible?
Bluetooth compatibility can vary widely by manufacturer and model — please go to Phone Compatibility to check compatibility for a specific phone model.
What is the registering or “pairing” procedure?
Once you’ve determined that your mobile phone is compatible with the Subaru Bluetooth Handsfree Kit, you must complete a one-time pairing procedure before using them together. For detailed pairing instructions, please review the User's Guide.
Can I access and call phone numbers from my mobile phone contact book?
Yes - individual phone numbers may be downloaded from a compatible cell phone and stored in the vehicle for faster dialing. Phone numbers from multiple phones will all be stored as part of one master contact list.
